Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching practice which encourages language learners to actively and efficiently engage in real-world and personally meaningful projects. It is a popular teaching method which focuses on student-driven projects. Language learners in this type of program complete their projects independently or collaboratively. Afterwards, they share their projects with the other members of the class. In fact. PBL is a ‘learn-by-doing’ program. This way, students become more interested in learning and engaged in activities.

The “Real Life English and Project-Based Learning” program at RPI College is mainly intended to develop language learners’ linguistic skills by engaging them in projects and activities in which they learn the English language by doing. The projects include a wide variety of activities that happen in the community, such as developing a neighborhood watch program, designing summer courses for students, organizing a camping trip to the Rockies, etc. In these projects, language learners get involved in plenty of interaction and communication. They learn by doing: making a request, challenging an idea, presenting and supporting and argument, responding to counter arguments, and many other practical aspects of the language that we have during our daily life at home, school, or work.

The “Real Life English and Project-Based Learning” is a program for adult and young adult language learners who are interested in learning English in a more active and engaging way. In this program, learners can learn best by actively engaging in designing and organizing projects. The program has been designed in three proficiency levels: Elementary, Intermediate, and advanced, and each level will be organized in two terms.

The “Real Life English and Project-Based Learning” program is intended to improve language learners’ linguistics skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and micro-skills (pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar). Therefore, Real Life English and Project-Based Learning is a communicative program which improved participants’ language proficiency by involving them in a variety of activities and projects. Like other communicative language courses, such as General English, the Real Life English and Project-Based Learning program has a strong focus on communication skills and is centered on goal and achievement-driven lessons. Besides, the program features a rigorous speaking pedagogy that activates new language and integrates it with intensive four-skills practice and the soft skills needed for various purposes in life including study and work.

Similar to our General English program, the “Real Life English and Project-Based Learning” program has the following student benefits:
